Excalibur — Kasumigaoka, yoru no kei, 2020

These works form a series of modern landscapes made with the Dot-e (pixel art) technique once used in video games. The series draws on Utagawa Hiroshige’s traditional ukiyo-e prints, One Hundred Famous Views of Edo. Revisiting those same places as they were once depicted, the works weave scenes of everyday life into a symbiosis of modernity and tradition, of reality and virtual reality.
