Ever since he could hold a pen, the French-Japanese artist Victor Takeru (born 1998) dreamed of becoming a comic-book artist. He soon realised, however, that he lacked the patience for building stories, and decided to turn towards a career in art instead.

His style is an intriguing fusion of influences, drawing on Japanese manga artists such as Taiyo Matsumoto, contemporary painters like David Hockney and Claire Tabouret, and the restless world of street art. The combination produces a bicultural approach that is entirely his own.
