Samy San (1986) — le plasticien parisien — is a young French artist and the first non-Japanese artist to join the gallery.

Samy San’s work questions our relationship to what is intimate and precious, drawing on the imaginary of the toy as a space for projection and memory. It is rooted in a broader reflection on technological transformations — from the emergence of the computer to recent developments in artificial intelligence — while engaging with the aesthetics of robotics and the visual regimes they generate.

He began a series of international travels between France and Asia over several years, an experience that deeply informed his visual vocabulary and way of working. Parallel to this trajectory, the growing presence of Japanese culture in France — shaping mainstream culture and collective imaginaries — forms an underlying cultural backdrop to his practice.

He developed a sculptural approach based on assembling everyday elements: toy fragments, plastic parts, industrial components, through processes of accumulation, selection, and recomposition. Operating through a logic akin to play, his work reactivates these materials within new configurations, producing dense, hybrid forms where memory, visual culture, and technological imaginaries intersect in a tension between the familiar and the uncanny.
