Minami Yoshida’s sculptures evoke shelter: the protective gesture, the enclosing hand, the silent prayer. The forms are not illustrations of those things so much as containers for them.

The material carries the argument. Fragile and responsive, clay registers every pressure applied to it, which gives the finished pieces an almost ritual dimension — body and emotion pressed into the same surface and fired together.

The work asks to be approached quietly. What it offers is not a statement but a shelter, and it holds its meaning at the scale of a gesture rather than a declaration.

Minami Yoshida’s work was shown in Paris for the first time in February 2026, in the private presentation of Takeru Amano’s new works at Sato Gallery.
