IMA | TAKERU AMANO
SATO GALLERY – PARIS 20 APRIL – 12 MAY 2024
Sato Gallery announces the return to Paris of Takeru Amano with his brand-new exhibition titled “IMA,” meaning “now/the moment” in Japanese. The exhibition runs from April 20 to May 12 at Sato Gallery’s newly opened space in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris.
“IMA” is not just the exhibition’s title; it also embodies a philosophy deeply held by the artist: to live fully in the present moment.
Visitors will have the chance to discover a series of works showcasing Takeru Amano’s artistic range. Among the pieces on display is Venus, the artist’s signature figure. These captivating portraits offer a unique glimpse into Takeru Amano’s artistic vision, revealing the depth of his interpretation of form and line.
Alongside the portraits, the exhibition will feature still lifes and landscapes, reinterpreted through Takeru Amano’s distinctive artistic signature. Through these paintings, viewers will be transported into scenes of vivid colour, where the artist captures the very essence of nature and life in his own way.
A particularly striking piece in the exhibition will be a Venus sculpture carved entirely from wood, created as part of a special collaboration with the brand ASICS, demonstrating Amano’s ability to bridge the boundaries between art and culture.
This exhibition also highlights the concept of “NEW ART,” an artistic movement conceived by the artist himself. Rooted in the energy of Tokyo, this movement is defined by its elegant simplicity, bold lines, vibrant colour palettes, and a playful exploration of narratives that transcend the boundaries of classicism and modernity.
Amano’s works captivate both the eye and the soul, offering an unparalleled visual and emotional experience. From acrylic paintings to wood and bronze sculptures, Amano seamlessly blends a variety of artistic techniques.
