Shun Okada, born in 1992 in Tōkai, discovered art during his high school years, a period marked by him dropping out of school. He spent his time playing video games, watching anime and drawing his favourite characters.

He went on to study at an art school in Tokyo, where he developed a unique approach: reproducing glitched screens, particularly those of the NES (Famicom).

What sets his work apart is the original relationship it draws between the digital and the analogue. This approach reflects not only his immersion in the digital world, but also the deep influence of his childhood in the Tōkai region.

Attached to Japanese culture and its traditional spaces, Shun works from a 6-tatami room, a typical Japanese living space. This intimate setting carries through into his creations, where the size of the room, the appearance of the screen and the patterns are closely intertwined.

What’s particularly interesting is that Shun, born in 1992, chooses to focus on the NES (Famicom), an iconic console from the 1980s. His works, while intense through their meticulous technique, also evoke a deep sense of nostalgia.
