This work represents the stifling social situation due to the Covid 19 pandemic. The visual motif is taken from the Nintendo game "Dr. Mario.” Dr. Mario is a puzzle game in which Mario, disguised as a doctor, in the upper right corner of the screen throws medicine to kill the virus inside. In reality, the nations distributed masks but the elimination of the virus was not as simple, and we are now coexisting with the virus. The artist creates a parody of this situation from last year, with Dr. Mario being replaced by Dr. Tedros, the Director-General of WHO. The humans are represented by the emojis, one with “HOPE” at the very bottom, showing despair. The numbers in the upper left are the number of infected people worldwide and in Japan. The Amabie in the lower right corner is an ancient Japanese plague-fighting yokai, which is a ray of hope in this stagnant situation.
